Review of Nice’s Verdon Gorge and lavender tour, with village stops, turquoise Lake Sainte-Croix, mountain views, price advice, and practical tips.

“Our tour guide was Denys, he was great! He was punctual with picking us up at our Airbnb in the morning. He explained what to expect for the day very clearly, along with his own personal recommendations for how long we should spend at certain stops. Because we went in October, we didnt see the lavender fields, but that was expected. Overall it was a great tour! We stopped in two beautiful villages as well as some viewpoints along the drive with breathtaking views. Finally, we made it to the lake which we were able to rent a paddle boat and get out onto the water. It was our favorite…”

Explore Verdon Gorge, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Castellane, lavender fields, and Sainte-Croix Lake on a long day trip from Nice.

“This was not a good day from the start. Our driver was good at communicating that he would be late, due to waiting for a no-show customer, which put us almost an hour behind schedule. After which, the driver seemed to be trying to make up time driving very fast through curvy roads, which resulted in 3 of the 6 passengers feeling motion sickness. Also, it is poorly named: the Gorge is a quick 10 minute stop, and the lavender doesn’t typically bloom till mid to late June. We did see sites quickly, but the driver was a driver only: not a guide. We had about 2 1/2 hours on…”

Review of the Verdon Gorge and lavender fields tour from Nice, with village stops, mountain roads, lake time, costs, tips, and honest drawbacks.

“Beautiful landscapes and quaint Provençal villages. Our guide Stephane was outstanding, both in his knowledge and in his attention to the varying interests of the group. We had a taste of everything, including time on a beautiful lake. The only downside was beyond our control. The lavender fields, which we were so looking forward to, where cut down before our tour date so that part of the excursion was cancelled. Even so, the tour was well worth it.”

★★★★★★★★★★4.2 · 40 reviews · from $129

Review of the 9-hour Verdon Gorges and lavender tour from Nice, with Castellane, Moustiers, Lake Sainte-Croix, transport, and practical tips.

“Winding through mountains in a Mercedes sprinter van on a shared tour was never going to be completely smooth… But the squeaking, worn-down shocks on the van should have served as compelling evidence that the other reviews mentioning the poor driving performance of the tour guide were indeed accurate. But we don’t get car sick easily so “no big deal”, we told ourselves. We endured as the guide used bus lanes and highway entrance ramps to bypass heavy or backed-up traffic. We endured as the guide intimidated numerous cyclists by practically rear-ending them off the road. We endured as the guide passed cyclists dangerously, with imminent curves limiting visibility of…”
